ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — The City of Rochester’s pools are set to open next week after delays and temporary closures.
The City of Rochester confirmed in a news release on Thursday that both Soldiers Field Pool and Silver Lake Pool will open to the public on Monday.
The department also delayed the opening of the Silver Lake Pool so the City could develop a plan to address those concerns.
The City said it has created a plan that includes adding additional staff and volunteers to “assist in monitoring activities outside of the water.” Rochester Police Department school resource officers will also be at the pools at times “to help ensure a safe and fun experience.”
Residents will be required to register to go to the pools. Online registration will be available beginning Friday. The City said anyone in need of assistance can call the Parks & Recreation Department at 507-328-2525.
“We look forward to welcoming the community back and ask that everyone help us by following the guidelines and rules,” Parks & Recreation Director Paul Widman said in the news release. “Safety is our top priority.”
