Ian Book to South Beach on Day 3 of the Draft?

The Notre Dame Football program is losing its leader in Ian Book, who was recently mocked to land with the Miami Dolphins.

For the past few seasons, Notre Dame Football saw Ian Book go from a question mark to being the all-time winningest quarterback in program history. A leader on and off the field, Book led the Irish to two College Football Playoff appearances and left the school with a big hole at the quarterback position.

As he entered the draft season, he made some waves at the Senior Bowl, where he threw the football better than most of the scouts expected. He left the Senior Bowl with a raised draft stock, and since then, he has continued to trend in the right direction.

For some, Book is likely to go undrafted, as he does not have the size to be a legitimate NFL quarterback, but could latch on for depth. For others, he is going to be a 2021 draft pick, even if it is on Day 3.

Notre Dame Football has eight players selected in Mock

In his mock draft for The Athletic, Dane Brugler has eight members of the Irish football team being selected. That would match the most players selected during Brian Kelly’s run with the team, and one of the picks was quarterback Ian Book.

Book lands in South Beach in Brugler’s mock draft, going as the No. 231 overall pick to the Miami Dolphins, a team that has a young quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. Tua struggled a bit as a rookie, and some felt he could be moved for a draft pick this offseason, but it appears the franchise is going to build around him instead.

We wrote recently that Book would be an absolute steal on Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft, and landing with the Dolphins would be an excellent place for him to start his professional career. The Dolphins have outstanding coaches, are building a winning culture, and he could be a nice third-string signal-caller behind Tua and Jacoby Brissett.
